Save the Elephants (STE) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1993 by Iain Douglas-Hamilton. Its main aims are to ensure that elephants do not become extinct and to protect their natural habitats. The organisation focuses on several key areas of work. These include protection, which involves stopping the illegal hunting of elephants, particularly in Africa and Asia. It also emphasises research, by collaborating with scientists and experts to study elephant behaviour. Another important aspect of their work is raising awareness. They do this by using films, television, and new media to educate people about the importance of elephant conservation. Over the years, Save the Elephants has supported 335 projects across 40 countries, making a significant impact on global efforts to protect these majestic animals.
