Save the Elephants (STE) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1993 by Iain Douglas-Hamilton. Its primary aims are to prevent the extinction of elephants and to safeguard their natural habitats. STE focuses on three key areas: protection, research, and awareness. The organisation works tirelessly to combat illegal hunting, particularly in Africa and Asia, where elephants are most threatened. Collaborating with scientists and experts, STE conducts vital research on elephant behaviour to inform conservation strategies. Additionally, it raises public awareness through films, television, and digital media, educating people about the urgent need to protect these majestic creatures. To date, STE has supported 335 projects across 40 countries, demonstrating its global commitment to elephant conservation. Through its multifaceted efforts, STE strives to ensure a future where elephants thrive in the wild.
