Save the Elephants (STE) is a non-profit organisation that was set up in 1993 by Iain Douglas-Hamilton. Its main aim is to ensure that elephants do not die out and to protect the habitats in which they live. The organisation focuses on three main areas: protection, research, and awareness. STE works to stop the illegal hunting of elephants, especially in Africa and Asia, where poaching is a major threat. It also collaborates with scientists and experts to conduct research on elephant behaviour to better understand and protect these animals. In addition, the organisation raises public awareness through films, television, and new media resources. So far, Save the Elephants has supported 335 projects in 40 different countries, making a significant impact in the global effort to conserve elephants.
