Alex was totally lost in his favorite RPG on the living room couch. Around him, the coffee table was buried under snack wrappers, game cartridges, and tangled controller cords. After an hour of non‑stop play, his mom came in and flipped off the TV.
“Homework first,” she declared. Alex groaned but grabbed his backpack. He slipped on a pair of oversized headphones to listen to a podcast on the way upstairs. As he stomped toward the stairs, he didn’t notice a lone Lego brick lying in wait.
CRUNCH! Alex hopped up and down, cursing under his breath. In his flail, he knocked the headphones into the TV stand. With a clatter, the entire gaming setup toppled to the floor.
Heart pounding, Alex surveyed the wreck: a cracked console, broken controller, and a tangle of cables. Rubbing his throbbing foot, he shuffled around, picking up every little piece of Lego. He couldn’t help but smile sheepishly—maybe keeping things neat wouldn’t kill the fun after all.
