I

I believe that having healthy lifestyle habits is very important. For example, I always try to eat vegetables, drink a lot of water, and exercise at least three times a week. Besides, I also avoid staying up too late because getting enough sleep helps me stay focused during the day. In my free time, I like reading books instead of playing with my phone. I think good habits not only make us physically healthy but also help us feel happier and more energetic.

Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends, a wonderful morning to all of you. Today on this special occasion, I would like to speak some words on the topic- Bullying.

Bullying is a rising problems in educational institutions everywhere. It refers to the assertion of dominance over an individual by displaying aggressive behaviour towards them. It can either involve physical or verbal abuse, or both. And this increasingly digital age, cyber bullying is the greatest evil of them all.

Bullying leads to irreversible harm, causing feelings of depression, anxiety, alienation and even suicidal impulses in the victim. The trauma of bullying can affect someone’s entire life, so we must take strict steps to prevent it! Raising awareness about bullying is the first step towards combatting it. In addition, all bullies must be severely punished.

To conclude, we must all do our best to prevent bullying! Thank you for listening to me so attentively.

Chris Dancy loves technology. A few years ago, he noticed that he had very little information about his habits, health and lifestyle, and he wanted to lose some weight. So he bought some gadgets that could collect this information and help him understand himself better. Now he is connected to 700 sensors that record every detail of his life. He monitors what he eats and drinks, how long he sleeps, how much he spends, his mood... even the activity of his dogs! Few, if any, people collect as much data about themselves as Chris.

Most of his gadgets are attached to him. He wears gadgets on both arms, a heart rate monitor and a device that counts calories. He has a smartwatch too, which he can wear on either wrist. His house and car are also full of gadgets. Every one of them sends data to his computer, and at the end of each day Chris spends a little time analysing it. The smartwatch is the only gadget he wears all the time. He doesn't wear all of his gadgets 24/7, but he has so many systems that automatically track his activity that there aren't any days when there is no monitoring at all.

People can get so focused on forming good habits to live with. They try to exercise regularly, eat healthy, and maintain their overall well-being. While it’s great to form these good habits, your toxic habits could be keeping you from success. In order to get rid of your bad habits, you’re going to have to take a few simple steps to unlearn them.

The first step to defeating toxic habits may be the hardest, but don’t get overwhelmed. You’re already halfway there. You’ll have to recognise the bad habits for what they are and come to peace with them. Recognising them has already brought you to the point where you’re reading about how to overcome them, so give yourself a pat on the back for the strength you’ve already shown.

Another important step forward is to then recognise what triggers these toxic habits. Let’s say your habit is that you always have to eat junk food that doesn’t make you feel great. You can also physically remove yourself from the situation by leaving the room and doing something else until the bad habit urge has passed.

Everyone has seen the before-and-after photos of people who have worked hard to lose weight. It’s good for people to keep those before pictures with them along their journey so they can see the progress they’re making. Write down your thoughts, successes, and failures in a journal. When you feel discouraged in the future, you can go back to your journal and remind yourself how far you’ve come.

Feeling like you’re not alone will make the journey to ending your toxic habit less intimidating. And once you actually stop the habit, your loved ones will be ready to celebrate with you.

Mark: Hi, everyone. Last time our club met, we decided to start an awareness campaign to draw attention to a pressing social issue. So have you thought about any issues that we could focus on?

Mai: Yes, I think we should promote issues that affect a lot of people in our city, such as crime and overpopulation.

Nam: I like your ideas, Mai, but I think we should plan our campaign around social issues that directly affect teenagers like us.

Mark: Can you give us some examples?

Nam: Well, bullying, peer pressure, and body shaming, for instance, are major problems among teenagers today although many people don’t feel comfortable talking about them.

Mai: I agree with you. Hmm... so Mark, what do you think? Should we focus our campaign on a general social issue or one affecting mainly teens?

Mark: Hmm. I think this time we should focus on a problem teens struggle with every day because this won't be a big campaign. However, we'll try to use your ideas for another project, Mai.

Mai: Sounds good! Now let’s decide on a social issue. Is the top problem facing teens today peer pressure, body shaming, or bullying?

Nam: I think it’s bullying because it’s very common today, and ...
