Đó là một chiếc đồng hồ hàng nội, loại lên dây, đã cũ. Ba em mua nó trong một lần đi chợ tỉnh cách đây hơn ba năm. Cả đồng hồ là một hình hộp chữ nhật rộng độ hai mươi phân và cao độ mười phân.

Vỏ đồng hồ làm bằng nhựa màu xám. Mép ngoài được mạ nhôm trước đây bóng lộn giờ đã bị trầy xước đôi chỗ. Sau tấm kính trắng là mặt đồng hồ. Trên đó, bên trái là hàn thử biểu, bên phải là phần chính hình bầu dục gồm một vòng mười hai con số từ số 1 đến số 12 trong đó số 6 được thay bằng ô chỉ ngày. Trên mặt đồng hồ có ba chiếc kim dài ngắn di chuyển nhanh chậm khác nhau. Đầu đỏ mảnh mai là kim giây quay liên tục. To và ngắn hơn là kim phút lâu lâu mới nhích tới một chút.

Kim giờ thoáng nhìn tưởng như bất động nhưng thật ra vẫn thầm lặng đếm thời gian, quay chậm chạp. Mặt sau đồng hồ có ba chiếc núm: núm để lên dây, núm điều chỉnh giờ và núm hẹn báo thức.

Ngồi đó, đồng hồ cần mẫn làm việc. Tiếng “tíc tắc”, “tíc tắc” hàng ngày đều đặn vang lên sớm tối. Trong nhà, ai cần đến là có nó ngay. Sáng ra mới năm giờ, nó đã lên tiếng reng reng một hồi lâu gọi mọi người tỉnh giấc. Chưa có lần nào đồng hồ bê trễ công việc nếu như mỗi ngày ta đừng quên một lần lên dây cho nó.

Chiếc đồng hồ làm công việc nhắc nhở ai nấy học tập, làm việc, sinh hoạt đúng giờ, trách chi cả nhà chẳng quý trọng và gìn giữ nó cẩn thận cho được.

It’s high time for people living at different parts of country gathering and spending time together. Tet is a chance for one to come back home after many stress and pressure of studying and working environment.
