Gọi số proton, notron, electron của nguyên tử nguyên tố X là p_x ; n_x ; e_x

Có : p_x = e_x Mà p_x + e_x + n_x = 40 => 2p_x + n_x = 40 (I)

Mặt khác : 2p_x - n_x = 12 (II)

Từ (I) và (II) => p_x = e_x = 13

                         n_x = 14

=> số electron có trong nguyên tử nguyên tố X là 13
