Like" và "alike" đều diễn tả sự giống nhau, nhưng "like" thường được dùng như một giới từ hoặc liên từ để so sánh, trong khi "alike" thường là một tính từ hoặc trạng từ đứng sau động từ liên kết (linking verb) hoặc ở cuối câu, diễn tả sự giống nhau giữa hai hoặc nhiều đối tượng.
