My favourite Vietnamese traditional performance is Vietnam's water puppetry (so-called "Mua Roi Nuoc" in Vietnamese) is an old form of puppetry that originated from wet rice civilization in the Red River Delta in Northern Vietnam during Ly Dynasty (1010 - 1225). Over centuries of forming and developing, water puppetry has become typical form of art performance in the North.
Puppets used in water puppetry are made from a special kind of wood named “sung”. This kind of wood is featured with light weight and flexibility that makes it easy to control. Logs are sophisticatedly carved to have different blocks. Then, those blocks will be connected in a system and painted by many colors. Finally, living puppets are completed and ready for the performance. On the stage of water puppetry, there is a famous and outstanding character named “Teu”. The puppet called “Teu” usually has a plump body and lovely face. “Teu” is a little boy that plays the role of narrator and joker, as well as represents the masses. “Teu” has the love of many generations of Vietnamese people and has become a symbol of water puppetry.
The unique feature of Vietnam’s water puppetry is its stage. Differ from other kinds of puppetry in the world that perform on ground stage, Vietnam’s water puppetry is performed on water stage. Water stages are usually built on small pool, and resemble a temple with a split-bamboo screen. Puppeteers stand all behind the screen and control puppets performing a play or a dance through a long string mechanism under water surface. To do this work, puppeteers have to stand in cold water for hours.
To assist puppeteers in puppetry performance, there is an orchestra which plays traditional instruments such as vocals, drums, wooden bells, cymbals, horns, erhu (Chinese two-stringed fiddle), and bamboo flutes. Exciting background music combined with amazing stage of living puppets and colorful flags bring audience a bustling ambiance of traditional festival in the country.
Vietnam’s water puppetry is a notable form of art performance in Vietnam and has been widely introduced to international community. It now is nominated to be a UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.

My name is Truong My Dung, I am 20 years old, a second – year student of Business Administration Department at ABC University. My major is Marketing, and it is very interesting to study. My hometown is Phan Thiet, and I have been living in Ho Chi Minh City for about two years. There are four people in my family, my parents, my sister, and I. Our house is near the ocean, so we have a small seafood shop which sells many different kinds of fish, mussel, crab and shrimp. I have medium height, long curly black hair, big eyes and thin lips. I watch TV as well as play computer games a lot, and I guess they are the reason why I have to wear a thick pair of glasses. What I love to do in my free time is reading books, listening to music, and watching movies. Besides my major in business, I also like English, and I have been taking some extra English classes lately. Therefore, I try to combine my study and hobbies by reading books and listening to music in English. I have some other talents such as drawing and singing. I love to draw about the landscape around my neighborhood, my pets and clothing. My friends say that I am a friendly, hardworking, but a little bit shy person. I rarely talk to new friends in my English class, and I avoid to be present in any crowd. I only feel confident around some of my best friends, and it is one of the weak point that I need to improve. My dream after I graduate is to work in a big international incorporation, so I always try my best to study and research in many necessary fields since now. I am living a interesting life, and I am very satisfied with myself.
Today, television has become an indispensable item of modern families, because of the great benefits that it brings about. First of all, watching TV is one of the most economical ways to save money. After a hard-working day, you feel very tired and really want to find a means of entertainment, TV is one of the best choices. You only need to sit at home, pay for electric and optical fiber expenses so you can watch any favorite programs, from cartoon to sports, news. It's a lot cheaper than going to luxury amusement parks. Moreover, just through the small screen, we can explore new things. For example, we just sit at home but can know the famous landmarks, unique scientific phenomena or social and political issues. From there we expand our eyes, our knowledge of the world around us. With these benefits, everyone is very fond of using the TV. I hope that in the near future, there will be more TV companies so consumers can freely choose the most suitable one.
Invented in the 20th century, until now, TV has played a very important role in each person's life. The first benefit is the abundant information that it transmits. In particular, the TV also brings the family members close. After the meal, the whole family gather in the living room to watch the favorite TV channel, which is really happy. In short, there is no denial that the television offers a lot of great benefits. However, you should use it in effective way and do not let it take up too much your time.
Some people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that develop the mind, such as reading and doing crossword puzzles. Others feel that it is important to give one’s mind a rest in leisure time. Discuss.
As we are human we naturally need to rest on leisure time to recover thestress of work and everyday life. In fact, every individual need to do what they want and belong to them. Personally, I prefer to be active during this time because it is feel right to me better. Moreover, people are free for what they do on their leisure time, and nobody can say what it is the best.
Some people want to relax after their day of work. These people may prefer to relax by watching movies, reading or getting a massage. People who have a physically jobs such as doctors, teachers and builders may choose these types of activities. If you are a doctor, you may feel that you want to let your body rest after work and you don’t want to do a five kilometer run after work, because you are already physically tired.
On the other hand, some people choose to be active in their leisure time because they do very sitting jobs. For example, these people many spend all day sitting on a chair and do their work. At the end of a working day, they may be have a backache, and all of their body become tired so they need to stretch their arms and improve their health by doing some activity such as going to the gym or swimming.
To sum up, the important thing is that people want to stay healthy by choosing what is best for them. In my view, the wrong way is to stay at home in your leisure time if you have a setting job.
We have to do something about pollution. Even though there are warnings about global warming, companies don’t do anything to reduce pollution.
Our sky, air, rivers, beaches and countryside are becoming rubbish dumps. The air is so polluted it is giving children breathing problems.
Polluted rivers have no fish left in them and beaches are too dangerous to walk on because of the garbage everywhere. It seems a lot of people don’t care.
I think there should be big fines for polluters. I don’t mind paying more for things if they can be made with less pollution.
The problem is that companies are more interested in profits than pollution. We have only just started looking at our carbon footprint.
