In this paper, I would to discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of the internet. In the first place, the internet benefits us in many ways. It provides us with much information from every corner of the world. It helps us to know about what is happening on the earth and updates us with the most recent news. Also, the internet helps us to widen our social network with many friend in every country in the world. Through some programs such as Skype, facebook, Yahoo Messenger, etc, we have chance to make friend and talk to a variety of people. Moreover, it entertains us. Sometimes we can spend times listening to music or watching films on some websites. However, the internet also causes us many problems. The first one is to our health. Some people spend too much time searching and playing on the internet, which is not good for their brains and eyes. Next, it also prevents us from some activities such as reading books or going our with our friends. In addition, some programmes on the internet contain some bad content such as violence or sex which are not good for young people's mental lifem.

Nowadays, the word “internet” is widespread all over the world. It is pretty funny if someone says that what is the meaning of internet. Internet really have big impacts on the world and the human mind. And from my point of view, it adversely affects to people, to the society by creating problems which we have to look directly at and find the solutions. Firstly, internet is the global information systems that people can access publicly includes the connections among computers. The amount of information is incredibly enormous and variety of types. It is said that internet bring the whole world to computer screen. However, those information aren’t always good for people. When people access internet, there are so many information that people approach and naturally they can harm for the human mind. In human body, there is a rule that when many information come, the brains begin to filter, in filter progress it will notice and remember something that is abnormal, special and emotional. Thus, the negative information will be absorbed faster. For examble, if there are two link in one page about education and sex, which do you choose? I think if you choose education link, you are different from almost others. When there are a number of kinds of information, you will read those first and you will get nothing for your real life. You can be affected by that information although you know it’s not good but it breaks into you mind invisiblely and then influnces gradually from your thinking and your actions. In addition, there are some kinds of negative information like sex, reactionary, fake advertisements, etc. And if you aren’t conscious, you will be cheated easily by sophisticated tricks. Secondly, obviously we can see that manu young people cult off internet as an indispendable part in their life. One day without internet is extremely uncomfortable with them. The big impacts of internet control their life like the impacts of president on America, internet controls by making them spend the whole day for sitting and looking at the screen of computer or phone. They waste time, money to use internet for playing, reading nonsense information. Actually, It’s only internet, the virtual world and it will never be real. Instead of studying, working, many young people exist and not live anymore because they have no goals for life. Moreover, they not only lie their parents but also throw away the money their parents give. Additionally, sitting infront of the computer screen for a long time can make people hate doing exercise anymore, people are lazier and more negative, which cause bad influences to health. Finally, of course internet is very useful tool supporting to many jobs of human. You can get everything through internet in everywhere without visiting or you can contact with your close relatives from all over the world by signing in some social networking. Therefore, those useful tools can cause an bad effects by the ways people use internet. For instance, cheating in exam now is more dedicated due to internet. Student use available documents in internet to have higher score and can’t work well in the future. In conclusion, internet is double edge sword to anyone using it. When it develops fast with society, their many problems that we have to face and solve to make it better and be a good tools for people.

WHO IS REALLY ON THE INTERNET?

One of the great things about the Internet, as well as one of its biggest problems, is
that people are basically anonymous on it. In Internet chat rooms and web cafés, people
can use a different name and even create an entirely different identity if they want to.
In some ways, this is a good thing. For many people, it gives them the chance to
do things that they could never do in real life. For example, a person might be very shy in
real life, but that same person may find the courage to make friends on the Internet
because it feels safer. In addition, people in some countries are not free to express their
opinions, especially if they don‟t like the government. By using a different identity on the
Internet, they can express their opinions without worrying about getting in trouble.
That same freedom to be “another person” on the Internet, however, causes many
problems as well. The major problem is Internet fraud. Many dishonest people use the
Internet to pretend to be a different person. Then they trick a person into trusting them in
some way and take their money. In one case, two Japanese men lied to Filipinos who
wanted to travel to Japan. The two Japanese men told them that they could help them get
visas to Japan for a small price (about $ 400 per person). The two Japanese men took
thousands of dollars from hopeful Filipinos, but none of the people ever got their visas.
The number of these kinds of crime is quickly rising. Last year, Internet criminals stole
over $ 350 million from trusting people. When you consider that only $ 57 million was
stolen in bank robberies in all of Europe, it is easy to see that Internet crime is a serious
problem.

1. The word 'anonymous' in bold in paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to________.

A. nameless B. dishonest C. trusting D. criminal

2. According to paragraph 2 all of the following are true of the Internet EXCEPT_________.

A. it allows people to safely oppose their government.

B. it makes it easier for people to express themselves

C. its get people in trouble

D. it helps shy people make friends

3. They word 'they' in bold in paragraph 2 refers to__________.

A. people B. countries C. opinions D. friends

4. The author mentions two Japanese men in oder to__________.

A. suggest that there is a lot of Internet crime in Japan.

B. show that getting a visa is very difficult in Japan.

C. show that you shouldn't trust anyone on the Internet.

D. give an example of fraud on the Internet.

5. Why does the author mention bank robberies?

Hi Jimmy,
Teenagers in Viet Nam use the Internet for many things. In learning, the Internet helps us to find information for our presentation. We find a lot of interesting ideas and beautiful pictures to make our presentation more impressive. After school, the Internet gives us lots of games for entertainment. I myself like English interactive games on the Internet. In communication, the Internet helps us to keep in touch with friends and maintain our relationships. We love the Internet. What about in the US?
Please write and let me know.

Your friend,
