Despite the advancing of technology and medical, elderly is still one of the biggest issues for the government to handle. Some people strongly believe that governments should spend more money on creating human-like robots to ease the life of the elderly. Others strongly believe that the money should be spent on the elderly, not on robots. In my opinion, the money should be spent evenly across two domains.
To begin with, we will answer the question: “Why we should spend money equally for both elderly and robot’s development instead of emphasize on creating robots only?”. Firstly, robots are hard and complicated to create. This mean during the lengthy progress of programming the robots, how can the elderly stay stable in their economy? They will suffer and not be gratified. That is completely opposite to what we want. We want to not only develop human-like robots but also sustain the life of the elderly. Secondly, exceptionally complicated robots can cause the destruction of humanity. Robots can calculate, process calculation, information rapidly, leads to gaining a lot of knowledge about the human society, becoming defiant and fight against us for their own freedom. Because all robots are genius, they can silently demolish the whole world from time to time.
Not only being extravagant with creating robots bring a great drawback to human, pay all the attention to help the elderly only can also result in a big disadvantage. Robots are intellectuals, there is no denial about that. They can learn about a specific person characteristic and personality; from there they can find the best treatment for that patient. If they failed, the robots will learn from its own experience and continue growing. That is called A.I (Artificial Intelligent). Of course, the developer will have to put some constraint to the robot’s brain development to avoid the problem listed above, such as only develop the robot in some specific subjects instead of developing in every way possible. Moreover, robots are strong, they are made of iron and steel. That is incredible because they can do heavy jobs for the elderly. Human, in another side, cannot learn that quickly and not that strong. Human can gain indifference and get tired of the elderly, while robots cannot.
In conclusion, spending time and money on one domain will lead to a huge failure and need to be avoid if we actually want the best for the respectable elderly.
