When Jackie eventually looked up she couldn't believe who she saw standing in front of her. It was a huge figure. Its slimy and stinky drool was all over her. It had such a long, long neck and gigantic body. Their four eyes met. Frightened, she tried to run away but was stuck in the drool puddle. The creature leaned its head towards her, sniffed out of curiosity. Its head was three times the size of her body, and had a brownish green color with wrinkly texture. Seemingly, it was in the middle of a meal, and Jackie was finally left alone when the creature went back to the eating job. It could reach the highest leaves and branches. Talking about trees, as Jackie had also just noticed, trees looked weird from what she normally saw. Ferns were really popular and there were many trees with strange-looking leaves.

All of a sudden, the sound of birds chirping filled the air. Actually, they are not entirely birds since they looked nothing like one except for the fact that they could fly. Leaves were falling like rain without any trace of wind! Animals seemed to be running away from something. Jackie tried her best to escape from the puddle and climbed on the nearest tree. There, she could see what was happening from afar. Two other gigantic creatures were chasing one another, and one looked quite familiiar... Jackie froze. It was a T-Rex! She gasped. So that meant she was in the world of dinosaurs, hundreds of millions of years ago. How in the world did she get here? She couldn't remember. But the most important mission at the moment was to survive and come back safely. Jackie turned around, and stragely enough, despite all the chaos, the dinosaur she met at first didn't seem to be bothered. It just continued to chew the leaves. Maybe it was too big to be eaten? With its enormous size, that was a possibility, and it didn't have any interest in eating her either. Jackie decided to stick to the dinosaur in order to be safe, although it could flatten her with one step. Luckily, it was quite of a gentle giant and didn't intend to hurt her. Jackie slept next to the dinosaur at night. It was a hassle to light up a fire everytime. She tried to make it small to not scare the animals away. Jackie slowly adapted to the life in the prehistoric era. She ate cooked bugs and a few safe fruits.

As time goes by, Jackie grew in attachment with the dinosaur. She even named him Barney. The dinosaur seemed to find the girl talking and singing quite amusing. Jackie went wherever Barney went, and he was quite fond of her. In their first winter together, snow fell heavily. The food was pretty much reduced. One day, on a trip across a field, Barney suddenly knelt down. He couldn't keep going, he lied on the snow, his eyes slowly closed... Jackie was left in disbelief and denial. Then a strong wind came and carried her away. Barney's body was buried in thick, white snow...

Jackie opened her eyes. Brightness welcomed her. It turned out that she had been lying in the hospital for days unconciously. Nevertheless, no one knew what she had been doing in those time, traveling back in time... Jackie soon recovered and went for a classtrip to the Natural Science Museum. There, she saw a familiar figure, the fossil of Barney was preserved well.
